TULSA, Okla. –– Following a pair of games where he scored more than 20 points, PJ Haggerty was named the American Athletic Freshman of the week, the league announced today, marking the ninth time he has earned the honor this season.

On Wednesday, Haggerty scored 23 to help lead Tulsa to a 79-68 comeback win over fierce rival Wichita State. Late in the game with Tulsa trailing by six, Haggerty scored seven straight points to give Tulsa the lead for the first time since early in the opening half. He would close with the final six points of the game to put the win on ice. The freshman guard was a perfect 14-of-14 on free throws in the win. He added six rebounds, four assists and a steal.

In Tulsa's game at Florida Atlantic, Haggerty had a game-high 25 points on 62.5 percent shooting (10-of-16). He recorded four rebounds and four assists as well.

For the week, Haggerty averaged 24 points, five rebounds and four assists while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 95 percent at the charity stripe.  Haggerty and the Golden Hurricane return to action Wednesday evening in the Reynolds Center for a conference matchup with North Texas.
