TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa graduate transfer kicker Seth Morgan was named the American Athletic Conference's Co-Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance at Louisiana Tech in the nonconference finale on Saturday.
He is the second Hurricane to win the weekly award this season after Kamdyn Benjamin was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for the season opener.
Morgan scored 11 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals in Tulsa's 23-20 overtime win. The Golden Hurricane put the game on Morgan's foot twice on Saturday and both times he came through.
First, he was called into action with 32 seconds remaining and Tulsa trailing 20-17. Morgan, calm under pressure, drilled a season-long 45-yard field goal to send the game to overtime.
After Tulsa turned the Bulldogs over on the second play of the extra period, the Hurricane again turned to Morgan with the game on the line. After Louisiana Tech's attempt to freeze the TU kicker with a timeout, he stepped up and connected from 34 yards to send Tulsa home with a win.
Tulsa opens its American Athletic Conference slate on the road this weekend at North Texas. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
