Sanders Named American Goalkeeper of the Week, Hernandez and SymSmith Grab Honorable Mentions

TULSA, Okla. – Senior Tatum Sanders earned American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week award for the second week in a row on Oct. 20 after her shutout performance against UTSA on Sunday.

Sanders, a Tulsa native, made four saves on seven shots faced against UTSA, bringing her within five saves needed to break the program record at Tulsa. The shutout marked her second of the season and 12th of her career, securing the win over the second ranked team in the conference and to help Tulsa earn the points to jump up two spots in the conference rankings.

In addition to Sanders, freshman Natalie Hernandez and senior Maggie SymSmith earned honorable mentions in the weekly conference awards following their individual performances in the game. Hernandez contributed to the shutout of the Roadrunners and tallied an assist on a goal by Hannah Chance, while SymSmith scored the game winner for Tulsa, nailing a shot off a cross by Kaylyn Simmons to put Tulsa ahead in the match.

The Golden Hurricane return to action Sunday, Oct. 26 against Charlotte, when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face off at 1 p.m. CT.
