IRVING, Texas — After claiming the American Conference Championship and qualifying for the national championships, Evyn Humphrey was named the Women's Runner of the Year by the American Conference on Tuesday.
The sophomore won the American Conference individual title with a time of 20:04.1 and followed that up with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regionals with a time of 20:30.6. Humphrey's time was good enough to qualify as an individual runner at the NCAA National Championships where she finished 115th with a time of 20:01.87, her second-best 6k time of the season.
Humphrey posted four top-10 finishes in five 6k races, including a personal best 19:38.9 at the highly competitive Arturo Barrios Invitational in October. She was also second at the Gans Creek Classic in September, running a 20:14.6 on the course she'd eventually run at the national championships where she shaved off nearly 13 seconds from her previous time.
Humphrey was the first Tulsa woman to claim the American Conference Championship since Chloe Hershenow in 2022, and is the first Tulsa runner to be named American Conference Runner of the Year in program history.
