TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa cross country teams are set to take on up to eight challenging and exciting meets for the 2025 season, beginning in late August down the road in Stillwater, Okla., and concluding on Nov. 22 at the NCAA Championships.

Steve Gulley, in his 26th season at TU, will once again man the reins of the program as the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field and Women's Head Coach, while his son, Taylor Gulley, will lead the men's team in his 14th year for the Golden Hurricane.

The Tulsa harriers will begin the year on Aug. 29 at Oklahoma State's Cowboy Preview in Stillwater, Okla., where the men will take on a 5K course and the women a 3K as an early-season test. The TU men took first in last year's event, and the women placed third.

Nearly one month later on Sept. 26, the women's squad will head to Columbia, Mo., to race in Missouri's Gans Creek Classic, a 6K course that Tulsa placed eighth of 38 total teams from a year ago. On the same day, the men will be back in Stillwater for the Cowboy Jamboree.

Oct. 17 will see both teams diverge once more, with the women heading to College Station, Texas, to compete in Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational, while the men will be running in one of the largest meets in the country: the Nuttycombe Invitational by the University of Wisconsin. It will be the men's team's fifth consecutive appearance in the meet and eighth appearance in the last nine seasons.

This year's edition of the American Conference Championship (Nov. 1) will be hosted in Charlotte, N.C. The women's team will look to repeat as conference champions after taking the title in 2024. They seek their eighth American title, 10th overall conference championship and their sixth title in the last seven years entering this season.

Meanwhile, the Tulsa men enter the new season with a chip on their shoulder after finishing as conference runners-up via tiebreak with 2024 champion Tulane. Tulsa is aiming for its 11th American title, 17th overall conference championship and 15th title in the last 17 years.

Cross country postseason for Tulsa begins with the NCAA Midwest Regional, which will be hosted this year by Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Nov. 14. The top two teams in each regional, along with 13 at-large men's and women's teams, will advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 22.
