IRVING, Texas – Three Tulsa football student-athletes – Nahki Johnson, Landen Lucas and Ty Cooper – were named to the 2026 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, the National Football Foundation (NFF) announced Wednesday.
The honor marks the 20th year of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which recognizes college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and Sprint Football who maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or higher throughout their collegiate careers.
Johnson, who spent one season at Tulsa, started all 12 games while pursuing a master's degree in sports leadership. He totaled 27 tackles, the highest single-season mark of his career, while adding three sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. He recorded four or more tackles in three games during the season.
Lucas appeared in all 12 games with seven starts at tight end in his lone season in the Blue and Gold. He finished with 13 receptions for 76 yards, including a season-high five catches for 26 yards against Memphis. His longest reception of the season was a 15-yard catch against New Mexico State.
Cooper played in all 12 games and made 10 starts. He registered 25 tackles, including six tackles for loss totaling 33 yards, and added three sacks, the third-most on the team. He recorded a season-high five tackles, including a sack, against Tulane.
Criteria for the award include a senior player who will graduate this spring or summer and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2025 or a graduate player who has been enrolled in school for at least three years, even if he returns to play in 2026; must have attained a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2; and must have been a starter or significant contributor throughout the 2025 season.
The Hampshire Honor Society program further strengthens the National Football Foundation's leadership role in encouraging academic performance by student-athletes at colleges and universities with football programs nationwide.
