TULSA, Okla. – Future University of Tulsa men's golfer Abe Bignell added another prestigious honor to his growing resume on Sunday, as the Golden Hurricane signee was named the recipient of the Jack Nicklaus Award, recognizing one of the nation's top collegiate golfers.

Bignell will join the Tulsa men's golf program this fall after a standout career at McLennan Community College, where he established himself as one of the premier players in junior college golf.

The Kent, England native capped an impressive season by capturing individual medalist honors at the 2026 NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, becoming the first player in McLennan history to earn the Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award. Bignell finished the national championship at 6-under par 282, securing a four-stroke victory while recording 20 birdies throughout the tournament.

Bignell enters Tulsa following one of the most successful seasons of his career. In addition to winning the NJCAA national title, he recorded four tournament victories during the 2025-26 campaign and helped lead McLennan to the program's fifth national championship.

Prior to his collegiate career, Bignell enjoyed significant success in England's amateur golf ranks. He served as captain of Kent's Under-16 and Under-18 teams and accumulated more than 30 tournament victories and over 100 top-10 finishes during his junior career.

Bignell's arrival continues the momentum of a Tulsa program that is preparing for the 2026-27 season under Brandon Wilkins' leadership.
