Green and Z. Williams Named HERO Sports Preseason Group of Six Preseason All-American

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa cornerback Elijah Green and safety Zach Williams have been named to the HERO Sports Preseason Group of Six All-American Teams, announced on Friday.
Green was named First Team Defense at defensive back, while Williams was named Second Team Defense. Earlier this week, Green and Williams were named to the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List.
Last season, Green is the first player from TU to earn First Team All-Conference honors as a corner since 2019. He led the Golden Hurricane and the American Conference with five interceptions. The five interceptions were the third most in the nation. Green finished fifth on the team in tackles with 59. Green had a career-high two interceptions against Navy and Memphis.
Williams finished third on the team in tackles in 2025 as he had 73 tackles. He had seven pass breakups, one tackle for loss and two forced fumbles. He achieved a season-high 11 tackles twice last season, against Navy and East Carolina.
Tulsa opens the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, against Oklahoma State in the Gateway First Bank Turnpike Classic at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:45 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
