Football Announces 2026 Team Captains

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Head Football Coach Tre Lamb announced the Golden Hurricane's five team captains for the 2026 season.
Quarterback Baylor Hayes, running back Sevion Morrison, linebacker Chris Thompson Jr., defensive lineman Jaylen George and offensive lineman Malachi Preciado were selected by their teammates to serve as captains for the upcoming campaign.
"These five guys were voted on by their peers, and I think that says everything about the respect they have earned inside our locker room," said Lamb. "They are the heartbeat of our football team. They show up every day, they do things the right way and they understand what we want this program to represent."
The five captains provide veteran leadership across both sides of the football, with three representing the offense and two coming from the defensive side.
Hayes enters his second season with the Golden Hurricane and will provide leadership from the quarterback room. He is joined on the offensive side by Morrison, a graduate running back, and Preciado, a redshirt senior offensive lineman.
Defensively, Thompson and George bring veteran experience to the Golden Hurricane. Thompson, a graduate linebacker, joined the Tulsa program after previously playing at Southern California, while George enters his senior season on the defensive line after joining the Golden Hurricane from Nebraska.
Tulsa opens the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, against Oklahoma State in the Gateway First Bank Turnpike Classic at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:45 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
