Henry Frnka served as head football coach for five years … he took Tulsa to its first bowl game, a Sun Bowl win in 1941, beginning a five-year bowl game run for the Golden Hurricane, including two trips to the Sugar Bowl, one Orange Bowl and one Oil Bowl appearance … during his tenure, Tulsa football posted a 40-9-1 record, won three league titles and outscored the opposition 1,552 to 375 points … his teams led the nation in passing in 1942 and '44 … three of his teams were ranked nationally at seasons end, including a school-best ranking of 4th in 1942.
