Hall of Fame Honor Team

Class of 1992

Only a 14-7 loss to Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1943, kept this Tulsa team from registering a perfect 11-0 season … the Golden Hurricane finished the season ranked 4th in the nation in the final Associated Press poll and won the Missouri valley Conference with a league record of 5-0 … Tulsa won its first seven games of the season by a combined 296-0 score and was only scored upon in four contests in 1942 … finished the season outscoring the opposition by a count of 427 to 32 … led by All-American Glenn Dobbs, the powerful Hurricane opened the season with an 84-0 shellacking of Waco Air Base and two weeks later defeated Randolph AFB 68-0 … Tulsa led the country in passing (233.9 ypg), scoring (42.7 ppg), scoring defense (3.2 ppg) and punting (41.3 ypg) … at the time of the induction, the 1942 team still held the NCAA record for fewest turnovers in a season with only two.
