The 1943 football squad posted a 6-1-1 record … the Hurricane lost only to the 13^th-ranked Georgia Tech, 20-18, in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1944 … Tulsa completed the campaign ranked 15^th in the final Associated Press poll … coached by Henry Frnka, the Hurricane outscored its opponents 269-52 on the season … Tulsa defeated area school’s Arkansas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma A&M … the Hurricane finished in first place in the Missouri Valley Conference.
