Was instrumental in lifting Tulsa's basketball program into national prominence, leading the Hurricane to the school's first conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1954-55. Established the school's single-season rebounding record with 370 during the 1954-55 season, and his 773 points that season was tops on the single season scoring list. A two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, he was selected as the MVC Player of the Year in 1955. Was the first Tulsa basketball player to receive All-America honors and the first to be drafted by an NBA team as the Boston Celtics drafted him in 1955. checkFontSizeCookie();
