Tulsa, Okla. - Pause at the Release is our periodic feature in which we highlight the perspective of one of our student-athletes. In these articles, the athletes share their personal experiences as part of the Golden Hurricane team with our wonderful supporters and community members. Here, you'll find the backstage story on TU Women's Rowing, told through the eyes of the athletes themselves. Check back often to see updates from more of your favorite rowers and coxswains.
Pause at the Release: A Good Different
"Things are different on The University of Tulsa rowing team this fall. Different in a good way. The training plan has evolved to include daily sculling paired with weekly doubles matrices. The sculling allows for great technical and aerobic work that carries over into the sweep boats. The weekly doubles matrices provide plenty of objective feedback for the rowers and coaching staff. This feedback has created a strong sense of transparency between the athletes and coaches. We, as athletes, know that our performance on the doubles matrices is directly related to our racing lineups. This inter-team competition has created opportunities for all of us. With strong finishes this past weekend at The Head of the Oklahoma, the plan seems to be working."
