Tulsa --A returning squad member . . . made the switch from quarterback to receiver during spring drills . . . has a great attitude . . . possesses great toughness . . . catches the ball well . . . started to understand the position and feel comfortable at the position as spring progressed . . . spent the 2009 season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and took a medical redshirt before transferring in the offseason to TU.

High School -- Was a three-year starter at quarterback during his time at Tulsa NOAH... earned three letters and led his team to a 16-7 record in his final two years of high school... also played strong safety... threw for 8,100 yards and 73 touchdowns during his high school career, while rushing for 828 yards and 12 touchdowns.. .was named first team all-VYPE (Tulsa), second team all-metro by the Tulsa World and was all-state honorable mention by the Tulsa World his senior year... also named NPSA DIII National Player of the Year... high school coach was father Joe Blankenship.

Personal -- His father Joe, uncle Bill and cousins Josh and Caleb all played football at Tulsa... uncle Rex played football at Harvard and cousin Adam played at Illinois State... son of Joe and Rosa Blankenship . . . born August 31, 1990 in Plano, Texas.
