On February 8, 1921, Kendall College officially became The University of Tulsa … it was said that the success in which the 1919 and 1920 undefeated Kendall College football teams enjoyed led to the university’s name change … the 1919 team posted an 8-0-1 record, which was the second undefeated season in the brief history of the school … the Kendallites outscored the opposition 591 to 27, while recording five shutouts … Kendall scored the most points in the history of the school with a 155-0 victory over Baptist University … the 1920 team posted a 10-0-1 record and was declared the Intercollegiate Champions of Oklahoma … the Kendallites scored 622 points to only 21 points for the opposition that season … Kendall opened the 1920 season with back-to-back wins scoring over 100 points, including 121-0 over Catholic and 151-0 over Oklahoma Mines … the 1920 team recorded eight shutouts for the season.
