Chris O’Hare became Tulsa’s first track & field national champion when he won the Mile Run at the 2012 NCAA Division 1 Indoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 4:01.66. He was a six-time All-American, 14-time all-conference selection and won a total of 11 Conference USA Championship events, including in the 800m, 1500m and mile run. He helped lead Tulsa to three conference cross country titles and to the school’s first indoor track & field championship in 2012. O’Hare was twice named the C-USA Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and three times earned the Midwest Region Athlete of the Year. He shattered the collegiate mile record with a time of 3:52.98 at the 106th Millrose Games in the prestigious Wanamaker Mile in 2013 and later qualified in the 1,500-meter run for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
