A marvelous receiver, Dan Bitson ranked number two in career receptions and receiving yards for the Hurricane at the completion of his career … had 163 receptions for 3,300 yards, 29 TDs, and an average of 20.2 yards per catch … had 17 games in which he had l00 yards or more in receiving yards … had three games with over 200 receiving yards, including 238 vs. Bowling Green (1989), 237 vs. Colorado State (1988) and 235 vs. Iowa (1989) … was a second-team All-America by The Sporting News in 1988 and second-team All-America by Associated Press in 1989 … career stalled by a tragic automobile accident prior to the Independence Bowl game in 1989, but returned to play on the 1991 Freedom Bowl Team.
