One of many Americans whose collegiate playing career was interrupted by World War II, Jerry D’Arcy was a talented and aggressive center whose blocking and tackling skills were quite evident … the 6'6" "giant" played on the 1942 Sugar Bowl team before departing for the war … returned to the Golden Hurricane for the 1946 season after serving in the Army Air Force for 41 months … was an assistant football coach at Tulsa for seven years beginning in 1949 … served as the baseball coach for three seasons, compiling a 28-27 record … was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus by The University of Tulsa in 1973.
