Known as the "Rubberband Man" to Tulsa fans, Paul Pressey helped bring national recognition and the 1981 NIT Championship to The University of Tulsa … came with head coach Nolan Richardson after winning the NJCAA national championship in 1980 … was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Year after averaging 10.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in 1980-81 … led the nation in steals that year with 96 total thefts … earned All-America honors as a senior in the 1981-82 season … was a two-time All-MVC first team performer … named the MVC Player of the Year as a senior … completed his collegiate career with 291 assists and 191 steals, leading Tulsa to a 50-13 record in two seasons … went on to a successful career in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks and later was an assistant coach for a number of years in the NBA.
