Roy Berry’s open field running led Tulsa to a combined 18-4-2 record from 1932-34 with victories over Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma A&M … it was common for his football exploits to be described as “he darted and dodged through the entire team on a 55-yard punt return” or “squirmed loose to dodge other would-be tacklers and finally sprinted over the goal line” … scored eight touchdowns on runs averaging 23 yards in 1932 … scored a team-high 36 points in 1934 … perhaps the best game of his career came against the Big Six Champions Kansas State when he returned a kick 55 yards for a touchdown and threw a 30-yard pass in a major upset.
