An outstanding running back, receiver and punter, Cal Purdin led the Hurricane in scoring in 1941 and was selected as the best blocking and tackling back on the 1942 team … played on two Bowl teams including the Sun Bowl and Sugar Bowl … his contributions helped Tulsa achieve a 25-6 record over three seasons … earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in 1942 … was a versatile athlete who also lettered in basketball and track … was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in 1943.
