Josh Wolfe

Josh Wolfe was named director of basketball operations and assistant basketball coach at The University of Tulsa in March 2022, following three seasons as the director of basketball operations at Louisiana Tech.

Since his arrival in Tulsa, the Golden Hurricane basketball team improved 11 victories from year one to year two, while posting a 16-15 overall record with seven American Athletic Conference wins in the 2023-24 season.

Before coming to Tulsa, LA Tech posted a 70-26 record for a .729 winning percentage with one postseason appearance in his three years there.

In 2021-22, LA Tech finished with 24 wins while advancing to the Conference USA Tournament Championship game after wins over Marshall, Western Kentucky and defending champion North Texas. In doing so, the program became one of only 10 Division I teams nationally to record back-to-back seasons of 24+ wins.

A year earlier, the Bulldogs recorded a 24-8 overall mark while claiming the 2021 Conference USA West Division title and finishing in third place at the National Invitation Tournament. LA Tech received an at-large berth in the NIT for the first time since 2015 and became just the second team in program history to reach the NITs Final Four.

The Bulldogs upset Ole Miss in the first round, defeated Western Kentucky in the quarterfinals and won a 76-74 thriller over No. 1 overall seed Colorado State in the championship consolation game.

In his first year, LA Tech registered a 22-8 overall record and had a 13-5 Conference USA record for second place in 2020-21. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic the team did not have a chance at postseason play with all events being canceled.

Previously, Wolfe spent six seasons at Western Illinois as both an associate head coach and assistant coach for the Leathernecks under Billy Wright and Jim Molinari.

Wolfe’s sixth year at WIU was highlighted by an upset victory over the three-time reigning Summit League champions South Dakota State in the quarterfinal round of the league tournament, becoming the first No. 8 seed in conference history to defeat the No. 1 seed. Another marquee win for the Leathernecks came in 2015-16 when they opened the season by knocking off No. 17 Wisconsin on the road.  The victory marked the program’s first win over a nationally ranked team in the Division I era.

The most successful season at Western Illinois for Wolfe came in 2012-13 when the team earned a share of the Summit League regular season championship while finishing 22-9 overall, recording more wins than any other team in the program’s D1 history and made an appearance in the College Basketball Invitational postseason event.

Prior to WIU, Wolfe spent six years as an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Parkside and was part of all activities in the basketball program as well as serving as the Director of the department’s CHAMPS/Life Skills program.

He helped the Rangers to back-to-back winning seasons in his first two years, including the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Before heading to UW-Parkside, Wolfe spent two years as an assistant coach at Lakeland College, an NCAA Division II school in Wisconsin. In his second season, the Muskies finished with a 21-6 record and the Lake Michigan Conference Championship.

From 2001-04, Wolfe was an assistant coach at Division III Hope (Mich.) College. In Wolfe’s time at Hope, the Flying Dutchmen won two conference championships (2003 & 2004) while also making two NCAA Tournament appearances (2002 & 2003).

Wolfe earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Hope College in 2004 and a master’s in education from Lakeland College.

Wolfe and his wife Molly have two children, Kaelyn and Kaden.
