Kendra Cullum

Kendra Cullum is in her second season as an assistant coach at The University of Tulsa. A former player at Houston, Cullum mentors the Golden Hurricane outfielders.

In her first season, Cullum helped lead Tulsa to the program’s first American Athletic Conference regular-season title and its second straight league tournament title. The Golden Hurricane won the first two games of the NCAA Norman Regional for the first time in team history before falling in a pair of close contests to eventual national champion and regional host Oklahoma.

Julia Hollingsworth earned third-team NFCA All-Region honors after she hit .365 and led TU with 17 extra-base hits, 17 stolen bases, 28 walks, a .525 slugging percentage and .458 on-base percentage all while recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. In addition, she led The American with 48 runs scored and ranked in the league’s top 10 in 11 other offensive categories.

Before coming to Tulsa, the Conroe, Texas, native spent the 2016 season at Stephen F. Austin where she served as infield and hitting coach. SFA finished third in the Southland Conference that season, its highest finish in seven years, and set four team offensive records. She coached three players who earned all-conference honors, and six players who earned conference Hitter of the Week awards.

In her lone season as the assistant at Southeastern Louisiana in 2015, Cullum helped the squad to one of the best seasons in program history. She primarily worked with the outfielders while serving as the team’s recruiting coordinator. The Lady Lions went from from 10th place the previous season to fourth in the Southland standings with 15 league victories and their best-ever conference mark. The squad’s No. 4 seed in the 2015 Southland Tournament was the best in program history.

Under Cullum’s tutelage, Southeastern Louisiana set new program single-season records for hits, runs, triples, batting average and walks. The Lady Lions maintained the top batting average in the league until the final week, finishing second as a team. Several SLU hitters made names for themselves on a national level as well, as four players ranked among the best in the NCAA for batting average, walks and triples.

Cullum also helped coach one of the brightest young stars in the Southland Conference in SLU's Sydney Booker – a top 25 finalist for the 2015 NFCA Freshman of the Year Award.

Cullum had a successful collegiate career, playing in 43 games and making 30 starts at the Kansas as a freshman before transferring to the Houston. Known for crowding the plate, the outfielder ranks third in NCAA history after getting hit by a pitch 89 times during her collegiate career.

An on-base machine with the Cougars, Cullum ended her career with the school’s second-highest career on-base percentage (.444). In three years, Cullum appeared in 169 games and made 166 starts, while compiling a career .244 batting average (95-for-390). She started at shortstop as a sophomore and junior before making the move to left field as a senior.

As a junior in 2013, Cullum ranked number one in the NCAA in hit-by-pitches per game (0.64), which ranks as the fourth-highest total in NCAA history. Her 38 hit-by-pitch total ranks as the second-highest single-season in NCAA Division I history. Cullum also set the school record with 52 runs scored during the 2013 campaign and ranked third in the country in sacrifice hits per game (0.36).

Cullum was a standout academically as well, as she earned a spot on the Conference USA’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times along with recognition as a CoSIDA Academic All-American as a sophomore.

Cullum graduated from Houston in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in sports administration and a minor in health.
