TU Golfers Finish in Fifth Place Tie at Husky Invitational

Port Orchard, Washington - After holding a one stroke lead following the first round at the Husky Invitational at the Trophy Lake Golf/Casting in Port Orchard, Washington, the Tulsa men's golf team finished in a fifth-place tie in the 10-team field.
Tulsa scored a final round 371 on Tuesday to finish in a three-way tie with Washington State and California with scores of 1127. The Hurricane opened the tournament with a 364 in the first round, but faltered in the second round by shooting a 392.
Pepperdine won the team title with a +23 score of 1103, while Oregon's John Ellis was the individual medalist, carding a one-over par 217. Ellis defeated Washington's Joey Ramos, who also scored a 217, in a playoff.
Individually, TU sophomore Billy Lowry and junior Kevin Henry finished in 17th place with 54-hole totals of seven-over par 223. Freshman David Inglis placed 20th overall with a 224 total, while fellow freshman Logan Goettsch placed 25th overall with a 226 total. Goettsch scored Tulsa's best round of the final day with a two-under par 71. Henry and senior Shawn Matthews turned in rounds of 72 on Tuesday.
Other TU scores include: Shawn Matthews (53rd, 236) and Neil Trimm (245, 59th).
The Hurricane is in action next at the Purina Classic, October 9-10.
