Box Score

Norman, Okla. - Sixth-ranked Oklahoma (41-7, 14-2 Big 12) used four home runs--three of those with two outs--to get a 9-0 win over Tulsa on Thursday at the OU Softball Complex. Senior Ashli Barrett closed out her final regular-season home game with a pair of homers, while Kelli Braitsch and Christy Ring each added another in the victory.

Starter Jennifer Stewart (29-3) gave up just two hits in her four innings in the circle for the Sooners. Former Golden Hurricane Angela Wedlake tossed the fifth inning where she gave up one hit and walked one in her debut. Wedlake had missed all of the season nursing a shoulder injury and hoping to redshirt.

The Sooners wasted no time getting on the board when Braitsch led off with a single through the right side. Two outs later, senior Andrea Davis walked to get on base and scored when Barrett sailed a ball over the center field wall.

Again with two-outs and LaKisha Washington on first, Braitsch knocked a balll back out to center for the only two runs in the second. Barrett was the first batter up in the third and she ripped her second round-tripper out to right-center for the 6-0 lead. It was the second time this year she had two homers in a single game, which tied the school record.

The final three runs came in the fifth. Sophomore Jennifer Stump doubled to right center and scored on the second out--a Washington sacrifice fly out to center. With two outs, Braitsch singled to center and was followed by Ring, who nailed a ball down the left-field line, just missing Lauren Capriotti's diving glove. As she ran to chase it down, Ring scored for her second inside-the-park homer of the year.

The Hurricane (12-39, 2-10 WAC) scattered three hits, with senior Ann Mesman and sophomores Danielle Olsen and Kyla Malone all recording base hits.

Junior Jenny Magill (9-20) was saddled with the loss in a complete game effort. She did strike out two Sooners, while walking a pair as well.

Tulsa now travels to Porland, Oregon, for a four-game Western Athletic Conference series with Portland State. The series open on Saturday with a double header beginning at 1 p.m. (cst) and concludes with a double header on Sunday at 12 p.m. (cst).
