TU's Fahrig Receives WAC Women's Soccer Weekly Award

Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa freshman goalkeeper Abby Fahrig has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 17-23. It was announced today by the conference office.
Fahrig led the Hurricane to three straight victories last week over Arkansas (1-0), Oklahoma State (1-0) and Texas Tech (4-1). She posted back-to-back shutouts against Arkansas and OSU. The St. Charles, Mo., native finished the week with 12 saves and allowed only one goal in three games while playing every minute in goal for the Golden Hurricane. She completed the three-game stretch with a 0.33 goals against average for the week. For her performances against Oklahoma State and Texas Tech at the 2001 Oklahoma Shootout, she was named Tournament MVP and led TU to the team title as well.
This season, Fahrig has started all seven games for Tulsa, recording three shutouts and 45 saves. She has allowed just eight goals in 635 minutes, leaving her with a 1.13 goals against average for the season. Fahrig leads all WAC goalkeepers in saves and shutouts.
