Tulsa Battles Rice in Houston:
In its lone game of the week, Tulsa (4-6-2, 1-1-1 WAC) makes the short jaunt to Houston, Texas, to square off against the Rice Owls (1-8-2, 1-2 WAC) on Sunday, October 20 at 1:00 p.m. TU won the first-ever meeting between the teams, 2-1, last season in Tulsa. Rice will serve as the host site for the 2002 Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

TU Falls to Hawaii:
Tulsa had just one game last week, but had to trek all the way to Honolulu, Hawaii, to play.

The Golden Hurricane allowed the Rainbow Wahine three goals in each half and dropped a 6-0 decision in the WAC opener for UH.

The last time Tulsa was 1-1-1 after three conference games was in 1997. That season, the Hurricane defeated TCU in the WAC opener before losing a narrow 1-0 decision to SMU in a torrential rain storm and tied Air Force, 0-0, in the third game of the conference season. TU went on to a 3-2-1 WAC record and advanced into the WAC semifinals before losing in overtime to eventual champion SMU, 1-0.

Twellman Continues To Climb TU Charts:
Senior Julie Twellman (Columbia, Mo.) climbed one step higher on the school's career charts two weeks ago with her two-goal performance against Fresno State. Twellman's four points gave her 64 for her career and moved her into eighth-place on the school's career scoring chart. The two goals increased her career number to 25, which moved her into eighth place on TU's career goals chart. Twellman also has 14 assists which puts her in a seventh-place tie with Paige Mayer (1994-98) and Kelly Noonan (1997-2000) for career assists.

TU Frosh Fauteux Climbing Freshman Scoring List:
With eight goals and three assists for 19 points this season, Tulsa's Danielle Fauteux (Kamloops, B.C., Canada) has recorded the most points in a season by a freshman since 1999 when then-freshman Julie Twellman tallied nine goals and five assists for 23 points. The 19 points ranks as the third-best effort in school history for single-season scoring by a freshman.

Fauteux Joins TU's Elite group With Hat Trick:
With three-goal performances against Arkansas-Little Rock and Drury, freshman Danielle Fauteux placed her name among a very elite group of Tulsa players. In the 16-year history of the TU women's soccer program, only three players have ever turned more than one hat trick in the same season. Fauteux became the fourth player with her performances against UALR and Drury. She joined former Golden Hurricane standouts Shari Rozmus (1988-91), Janette Javet (1990-93) and Jenny Simms (1993-96) as the only TU players recording two or more hat tricks in one season. Rozmus was the first with two three-goal games in 1988, while Javet tallied a three-goal and a five-goal game in 1990. Simms holds the school record with three hat tricks in 1995.

German Moving Toward TU's Single-Season Assist Record:
With 12 games under her belt, freshman Jamie German has established herself as the team's assists leader. German leads TU with five assists in 12 games and also has three goals for 11 points, which is the second-most points on the team this season. With six regular season games remaining, German has a good start on catching former Hurricane standout Melissa McCormick's (1998-2001) school single-season assist record of nine in 2000. Currently, German is just two assists shy of becoming the eighth player in school history to record seven assists in a single season.

TU Frosh Fauteux, German Continues to carry Golden Hurricane:
Through 12 games this season, Tulsa is led in scoring by the freshman duo of Danielle Fauteux and Jamie German. Fauteux leads the team in goals and scoring with eight goals and three assists for 19 points, while German is the team's assists leader with five and also has three goals for 11 points, which ranks second. Together, these two newcomers have combined to score 11 of TU's 18 goals and has collected eight of the team's 15 assists for a total of 30 of Tulsa's 51 points. Both players have earned the starting nod in every game this season.

Team Notes:
The Golden Hurricane will play three of its final six games in Tulsa, including one against Oral Roberts at the ORU Soccer Field, and two at home against SMU (10/25) and UTEP (10/27). TU's remaining games on the road are at Rice (10/20), Nevada (11/1) and Boise State (11/3).

With six games remaining in the regular season, TU will need to win at least two more contests to avoid the school record for fewest victories in a single season. The current record for fewest wins is five and was set in 1987, which was the school's first year on sponsoring women's soccer.

Danielle Fauteux leads Tulsa and all WAC players in shot attempts this season with 72. She is currently averaging 6.0 shots per game this season.
