Cross Country Teams Compete in Cowboy Jamboree

Senior Sarah Haskins finished 13th overall to help lead the Golden Hurricane to a sixth place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday.

Stillwater, Okla. - A pair of seniors led the way for The University of Tulsa cross country teams on Saturday at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. Sarah Haskins finished 13th overall to lead the TU women, while Andy Norman's 25th place finish topped the TU men.

Haskins was the only TU runner to place in the top-20 with a time of 18:28 over the women's 5,000-meter course. Junior Monica Joannes finished 24th with a time of 18:42, while sophomore Natalie Rasmussen's time of 18:56 placed her 31st. Fresman Erin Deasy finished 35th with a time of 19:00. Sophomore Melanie Hardy finished with a time of 19:39 in 58th place. Freshman Lacy Leifeste finished 71st with a time of 19:54, while fellow freshman Megan Langwell finished 75th with a time of 20:00. Senior April Johnson closed out the TU scoring in 92nd place with a time of 20:05.

On the men's side, Norman finished with a time of 25:14 over the 8,000-meter course. Junior Owain Matthews posted a time of 25:28 to finsh in 34th place. Sophomore Justin Rempel finished with a time of 26:13 for 63rd place, while senior Jared Christianson finished with a time of 26:19 in 67th place. Sophomore Derek Smith posted a time of 26:27 in 72nd place, just ahead of junior Ben Orozco who finished with a time of 26:33 in 77th place. Freshman Taylor Williams finished with a time of 26:54 in 93rd place.
