Box Score

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa did something it had not done in over a month... lose. The ninth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners ended TU's 19-game winning streak with a 14-6 victory at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex before a packed crowd of 1,048.

The Golden Hurricane took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first off junior Crissy Strimple's fifth homerun of the season. However, the Sooners scored seven unearned runs all with two outs in the top half of the second inning to take control of the game.

Tulsa did pick up three runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 8-6. That would be as close as TU would get, as Oklahoma would add six more runs for the final margin.

Six Hurricane recorded hits as TU was able to chase OU starter and All-American, Jennifer Stewart after the first inning. Senior Jessie Smith, junior Danielle Olsen, freshman Lindsey Dyer, junior Christy Watkins, freshman Stephanie Sliepen and Strimple all recorded hits for Tulsa.

Freshman Ami Day picked up her first loss of the season with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Senior Jenny Magill threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, striking out three OU batters.

Tulsa falls to 29-3 on the season, while OU improves to 29-8. The Golden Hurricane now turns to a pair of Western Athletic Conference doubleheaders on Thursday and Saturday. Loyola Marymount will play two games with TU starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings of Portland State come to Tulsa on Saturday for a twinbill slated to begin at noon. All games will be played at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex on the TU campus.
