2002 ALL-WAC Tennis Teams Announced

Tulsa, Okla. - The Western Athletic Conference announced today the 2002 all-WAC men's and women's tennis teams following the men's and women's championship matches.
On the men's side, SMU won both the Freshmen of the Year and Player of the Year with Gwinyai Chingoka and Krystian Pfeiffer earning the honors, respectively. Carl Neufeld was named WAC Coach of the Year. This is Neufield's second straight Coach of the Year honor.
The SMU and Boise State men's teams both placed two players on the first team. The Mustangs' John Brunstrom and Krystian Pfieffer each earned first team honors along with the Broncos duo of Marcus Berston and Guillaume Bouvier. Rice's William Barker and Tulsa's Pawl Sebastyanski round out the first team.
On the women's side, Fresno State swept the individual awards. Senior Kim Niggemeyer earned Player of the Year honors, while freshman Chloe Carlotti was named the WAC Freshman of the Year. Bulldog head coach Kevin Eppley was named Coach of the Year.
Both Niggemeyer and Carlotti were named to the all-WAC first team. Tulsa had two players named to the first team, including Aleksandra Durka and Alicia Pillay earning honors. While Nevada's Tjasa Jezernik and Boise State's Renate Stoop also were named to the first team.
