Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa fourth-year Head Women's Soccer Coach Damon Gore welcomed a total of 19 players, including eight newcomers, to the TU campus today as the Hurricane begins preparation for the 2002 preseason.

Tulsa players will undergo fitness testing Wednesday morning and then cap off the day with an intra-squad scrimmage at 7:00 p.m. at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex. On Thursday, the Golden Hurricane opens two-a-day practices. TU's daily preseason schedule includes morning practices at 10:00 a.m. and the team will alternate its evening sessions between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to adjust the summer heat.

"I'm very happy to have everybody report and I can feel the excitement of the team to get started," Gore said. "Fitness-wise, I think the team had a great summer and followed the summer workout program to a tee."

Tulsa returns 11 players from last year's 9-9-2 team, which finished 4-4 in Western Athletic Conference play for a fifth-place finish.

The Golden Hurricane will face Mississippi in its lone exhibition of the season on Saturday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. in Oxford, Miss.
