Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa women's soccer team snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Boise State in Western Athletic Conference play at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium.
Tulsa improved to 4-9-1 overall and 1-4 in WAC games, while Boise State fell to 5-10-1 overall and 1-3 in league action.
TU sophomore Carrie Schnarre broke the scoreless affair at the 62:39 minute mark in the second half with a long bomb from 35 yards out that sailed over the outstretched hands of Boise State goalkeeper Kim Parker. Tulsa junior Susan Day collected the assist on the goal.
The first 25 minutes of the opening period saw just three shot attempts. However, the offense picked up in the latter stages of the first half and Tulsa out shot Boise State, 8-4.
The second half remained a defensive struggle until Schnarre's goal. The Hurricane out shot the Broncos, 15-11, in game that was dominated by defense.
Tulsa's stingy defense allowed Boise State just three shots-on-goal the entire contest. TU junior Abby Fahrig, who started her first game of the year, collected three saves and posted her first complete shutout since her freshman season of 2001.
The victory for Tulsa was the first since a similar 1-0 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Sept. 5.
