Boise, Idaho - The Tulsa football team arrived in Boise, Idaho on Tuesday afternoon and will have an early morning practice on Wednesday, December 31 as the Golden Hurricane prepare for Saturday's game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Tulsa will practice at 8:40 am on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium. The Hurricane will meet the media at a 10:30 am press conference. Georgia Tech's press conference takes place at 12 noon, while the Yellow Jackets practice following its press conference.

"We've had really 14 good practices and we'll have a couple more practices beginning with a Wednesday morning workout in Boise," said Tulsa Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe, the WAC Coach of the Year and candidate for numerous national coaching honors.

The Hurricane completed the regular season with a 8-4 record and a 6-2 Western Athletic Conference mark. Georgia Tech had a 6-6 record with major wins over Maryland, NC State and Auburn. The Yellow Jackets finished with a 4-4 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Tulsa makes its first bowl game appearance in 12 seasons. The last bowl game for Tulsa came in the 1991 Freedom Bowl as the Hurricane defeated a Marshall Faulk-led San Diego State team, 28-17.

Georgia Tech has the third-best Bowl winning percentage in college football with an overall 20-11 record and a .645 winning percentage. The Yellow Jackets are making their seventh straight bowl game this year.

Tulsa and Georgia Tech have met twice before on the football field, and both meetings came in Bowl games. The teams played in the 1944 Sugar Bowl, as Tech captured a 20-18 come-from-behind victory. Tulsa avenged the loss a year later in the 1945 Orange Bowl with a 26-12 victory.
