Rasmussen Finishes 20th at NCAA Midwest Regional

Peoria, Ill. - Senior Natalie Rasmussen finished 20th in a field of 185 runners at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Peoria, Ill., to help the Golden Hurricane women's cross country team to a 17th place finish. A total of 26 women's teams competed on the 6,000-meter course hosted by Bradley. On the men's side, TU finished 16th in a field of 21 teams.
Rasmussen's time of 21:19.86 completes a senior year that saw her finish in the top-20 of all six meets, a feat that has only happened once in school history, former Hurricane stand out Fride Vullum accomplished it in 1999. Rasmussen was a first-team All-WAC performer this season as well, with a seventh place finish at the conference championship.
Freshman Breanna Chipney finished 86th for the Hurricane with a time of 22:46.01. Fellow freshman Kelli Denny finished 108th with a time of 23:12.85 to round out TU's top three runners.
For the men, junior Taylor Williams finished 63rd out of 153 runners with a time of 32:14.99. Freshman Bret Turowski finished 72nd with a time of 32:32.13, while sophomore Andrew Beard finished 85th with a time of 32:54.88.
