Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa senior defender Susan Day, junior forward Carrie Schnarre and sophomore forward Katie Ward have each been named to the 2004 Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team.
Schnarre, a native of Lake St. Louis, Mo., scored the game-tying goal for the Golden Hurricane against Hawaii in the first round of the WAC tournament with 0:37 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Day, who hails from nearby Coweta, Okla., scored the deciding goal in a shoot-out against Hawaii and advanced TU into the semifinals for only the third time in history. A native of Waco, Texas, Ward was the team's top assist leader this season with eight, which tied for second on the school's single-season list.
All three players led Tulsa to a fifth-place finish in conference play after the Hurricane was picked to finish seven in the WAC preseason coaches poll. Tulsa shocked fourth-seeded Hawaii in the first round of the 2004 WAC Tournament and then dropped a hard-fought, 1-0, decision to eventual champion SMU in the semifinal round.
This is the first time since 2001 that Tulsa players have been named to the all-WAC Tournament Team, and the three selections marked the most for TU since 1997.
