Austin, Texas - The Tulsa men's golf team is in fifth-place in the 15-team field after a first day total of 579 at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The Hurricane scored a first round two-under par 286 and had a second round score of 293 at the par-72 Austin Country Club.

Tulsa senior David Inglis fired a three-under par 141 in the first two rounds on Monday and sits in a seven-way tie for sixth place. He shot a second round two-under par 70, after shooting a one under par 71 for the first 18 holes. Freshman Mitch Cohlmia fired identical rounds of one-under par 71 to finish the first day in 13th place with a 36-hole total of 142.

Fellow senior Chris Noel finished the day with a 148 total after rounds of 70 and 78 for 39th place. Freshman Sam Korbe is in 52nd place with 151 total, followed by fellow freshman Brett Myers who scored a two round total of 152 for a 59th place tie.

For the tournament, Brigham Young sits in first-place with a 10-under par score of 566, followed by TCU (567), Oklahoma State (571), Arkansas (572) and Tulsa (579) rounding out the top five teams. Second round play was suspended due to darkness with players from Pepperdine, Virginia and Texas A&M still on the course.

Individually, Arkansas' Andrew Dahl leads the pack with an 12-under par score of 132 after firing an opening round 64. He is followed by BYU's Jake Ellison, who carded an eight-under par day with a 136 total.

In first round action, Noel had an opening round of two-under par 70, but the second round of 18 wasn't as nice to Noel as the first round as he fired a six-over par 78. In the first round, Noel turned in birdies on holes 6, 10, 15 and 17. The par-5 third hole and par-4 11th hurt Noel on the backside as the two holes totaled five strokes over par.

After opening with three bogeys on the first five holes of the tournament, Cohlmia scored birdies on holes 7, 10, 14 and 15 for his one-under par first round score. In second round play, Cohlmia began on the back nine and was three-under at the turn, but suffered a double-bogey on the first hole, his 10th of the round. He had two birdies and two bogeys to finish out his second round score.

Inglis had a two-over par score after his first nine holes of the day, but finished the first round with three birdies on the back nine. He started the second round on hole 10 and proceeded to birdie three holes and bogey one for a nine-hole score of 34. Inglis birdied his second-to-last hole of the day to go to two-under par for the round.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
