Austin, Texas - The Tulsa men's golf team carded the day's best round with a two-under par 286 and finished in fourth-place in the 15-team field at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The Hurricane completed the 54-hole tournament with a one-over par score of 865, finishing just seven strokes behind team champion BYU's 858 total.
After BYU, TCU placed second with a four-under 860 score followed by Oklahoma State (861), Tulsa (865) and California (867) to round out the top-five teams. The unranked Hurricane, according to the GolfWeek/Sagarin ratings, placed ahead three nationally-ranked teams, including eighth-ranked Texas, No. 13 Arkansas and No. 22 Oklahoma.
A day earlier, the Hurricane scored a first round two-under par 286 and had a second round score of 293 at the par-72 Austin Country Club to enter the final round in fifth place.
Tulsa senior David Inglis completed the tournament today with a three-under par 213 to finish in ninth-place overall. He was one of four Tulsa golfers to shoot even par or under for the final round with his even-par 72.
Freshman Mitch Cohlmia had his second top-15 finish in as many tournaments. He placed 12th with a two-under par score of 214, following today's even-par round of 72. A week ago, Cohlmia finished in 10th place at the Louisiana Classics.
Senior Chris Noel had Tulsa's top round of the day with a two-under par 70. He closed the event just like he opened it on Monday with a first round 70 as well. Noel finished with a 218 total for 26th place. Freshman Sam Korbe equaled the rounds of Inglis and Cohlmia with his best round of the tournament, an even-par 72. He placed 41st overall, while fellow freshman Brett Myers carded a 78 today to finish with a 68th place total of 230.
Arkansas' Andrew Dahl held onto the lead with a 10-under 206 total after beginning the day with a 12-under score.
Tulsa will be back in action next at the National Invitational, March 28-30, in Tucson, Arizona.
