Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa first-year Head Women's Soccer Coach Rena Richardson welcomed a total of 24 players, including 13 newcomers, to the TU campus as the Hurricane begins preparation for the 2004 preseason. The Golden Hurricane reported Monday and went through a series of meetings with the support staff on Tuesday. Richardson got her first look at the full squad on Wednesday morning, which was the beginning of seven two-a-day practices. Tulsa began its first practice with fitness testing and then moved into more of technical session. "I'm very excited about the talent on this team," Richardson said. "All 24 players showed up fit, healthy and ready to play. Due to the weather on Wednesday, we were forced to go indoors for the first session. We practiced outdoors on Wednesday night and the team performed very well during the second session. The team scrimmaged toward the end of practice and there were moments of brilliance, which we hope to build on and carry through the rest of the preseason." Tulsa's returns 11 players, including seven starters, and welcomes 13 newcomers for the 2004 campaign. The Golden Hurricane will open the season at home against Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m.
