Tulsa Golfers Finish in 11th Place at Notre Dame Invitational

Notre Dame, Indiana - A young Tulsa men's golf team showed improvement in each round at the Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend. Tulsa finished the tournament in 11th place with a 54-hole total of 909 on the par-70 Warren Golf Course.
Tulsa improved 10 strokes from round one to two, and another four strokes from Saturday's round to Sunday's final round. The Hurricane, made up of all sophomores at this season-opening tournament, carded rounds of 311-301 and finished up with a 297 score.
Brett Myers continued his steady play with a four-over par score of 74 on the final day to finish with a 223 total. Myers finished in 19th place overall, which is his best career finish as a collegian.
Sam Korbe also carded a 74 on Sunday and ended the tournament with a 231 total to finish in 47th place. Ryan Henry and Tully Coyle tied for 56th place with 233 scores. Today, Coyle bounced back from yesterday's round of 88 to fire the best round of the tournament for the Hurricane with an even-par 70. Henry counted a 79 today, while Mitch Cohlmia's 241 total rounded out Tulsa's scores.
Kent State led from start to finish to claim the team title with an 871 total, while Michigan State finished two strokes behind in second place with an 873 total. Rounding out the top-five teams were Texas Tech (888), Colorado (889) and Indiana (890).
Kent State's Ryan Yipp won the individual medalist title with a 209 score, a five-stroke win over the second-place competitor.
Tulsa is in action next at the Franklin Street Partners Invitational, Oct. 8-10, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
