Tulsa, Oklahoma - Memphis' Emiko Schwab snuck in the only goal of the game during the early minutes of the first half and the Tigers defense held Tulsa to just four shots and posted a 1-0 Conference USA victory over TU at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium.
Tulsa dropped to 8-9-2 overall and 3-5 Conference USA play and now needs a victory on Sunday against UAB to qualify for the C-USA Tournament. Memphis improves to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in league action.
Memphis' high-scoring offense needed less than two minutes to find the back of the net. Shoko Mikami lofted a corner kick from the right corner and Schwab managed to get her head on the ball and direct it into the right side to stun TU at the 1:52 minute mark.
Tulsa played mostly in a defensive formation in the first period and only attempted one shot, while the Tigers fired off three shots.
Memphis out-shot TU, 6-3, in the second half, and held Tulsa to without a shot on goal.
