TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Jarius Glenn scored 18 points, including a late 3-pointer with a second on the shot clock, as Tulsa beat Texas-El Paso 65-54 in a Western Athletic Conference game on Thursday night.
Glenn's trey gave Tulsa breathing room at 59-53 with 2:15 left after the Miners had wiped out an early 17-point TU lead.
UTEP (17-5, 7-3 WAC) trailed 28-11 in the first half, 31-18 at intermission, but guard Filberto Rivera spurred a 13-2 run early in the second half to forge a 40-40 tie.
A 3-pointer by Brett McDade put Tulsa (5-14, 2-8 WAC) ahead to stay at 45-42, followed by a short jumper by Oswaldo Gonzalez. McDade made a 3-point play with 6:25 left to give Tulsa a 52-44 advantage.
UTEP pulled within 56-53 before Glenn's big 3-pointer off an inbounds play that started with three seconds on the shot clock.
Glenn also had a career-high eight assists, five rebounds and two steals. Anthony Price added 15 points and six rebounds and McDade had 13 points for Tulsa, 2-8 in the WAC and 5-14 overall.
UTEP was held to 32.7 percent shooting (18-55), including 5-for-22 on 3-pointers. Tulsa shot 48 percent despite making just 4-of-15 3-pointers and being nearly as cold on free throws (5-14).
Rivera had 17 points for UTEP, followed by Omar Thomas with 13 and Miguel Ayala with 10.
