Tulsa Golfers Fail to Make the Cut at NCAA Championships

Owings Mills, Maryland - The Tulsa men's golf team suffered its worst round of the tournament with a 307 total, and failed to make the cut following 54 holes at the NCAA Championships at the par-70 Caves Valley Golf Club.
Tulsa, ranked 25th nationally, finished with an 899 score and placed 29th in the field of the nation's top golf teams.
The Georgia Bulldogs, ranked second nationally, has held onto the team lead since the first round and enters final round play on Saturday with a nine-stroke lead over second-place Georgia Tech with an 855 to 864 total.
The remaining 15 teams that made the cut for tomorrow's final 18 holes include Southern Cal (875), UNLV (876), Duke, Arizona State, Washington, Kentucky and Augusta State (877) tied for fifth place, Georgia State and BYU (879) tied for 10th place, New Mexico and Tennessee (880) in a 12th place tie, Oklahoma State (882) and Georgia Southern (883) rounding out the top-15 teams.
For the Hurricane, Mitch Cohlmia finished in 25th place with a 54-hole total of 217 after turning in a round of 75 today. Ryan Henry had the best round of the day for the Hurricane with a 73, while he placed 84th overall with a 221 total.
Brett Myers and Austin Hackett had Tulsa's final two countable scores with 77 and 82, respectively. Myers finished with a 229 total for 118th place, while Hackett's 234 total was good for 145th place. Sam Korbe finished with a 239 total for 152nd place.
Pepperdine's Michael Putnam, who is playing as an individual since his Pepperdine squad did not qualify for the NCAA Championships, is in first place with a three-under par 207 total. Augusta State's Major Manning and Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro are tied for second-place with 208 totals.
The top-15 teams will complete tournament play on Saturday.
