Golden Hurricane Advance to Semi-Finals at Blue-Gray Classic

The University of Tulsa men's tennis team pulled off one the biggest wins in school history on Friday with a 4-0 victory over No. 12-ranked Louisville in quarterfinal action of the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic at the Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. The Golden Hurricane (11-4) will face No. 26-ranked Virginia Commonwealth at Noon on Saturday, March 18. The winner will face No. 32 Boise State and No. 20 Notre Dame.TU's 21st-ranked Arnau Brugues notched a straight-set, 6-1,6-1, victory over 88th-ranked Slavko Radman at No. 1 singles. The Hurricane also won at No. 2 singles with 78th-ranked Federico Soriano defeated Damar Johnson, 6-4, 6-2. Senior Diego Camacho sealed the TU win with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win over Jhonny Berrido.
Tulsa also won the doubles point as Brugues teamed with Aleksander Charpantidis to beat LU's 32nd-ranked doubles tandem of Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafsson, 9-8. Ross Cunningham and Andy Connelly teamed up to win at the No. 3 doubles as well, 8-5. Louisville falls to 12-3 on the season. The Cardinals are the top-seeded team in the classic, as well as the highest-ranked squad at the tournament.
