Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa and Oklahoma State University has officially signed a scheduling agreement that will see the two schools compete in both football and men's basketball.

The schools have agreed to play a three-game series in football and have a four-year agreement in basketball.

"It was important for The University of Tulsa to include both football and men's basketball in this agreement," said Tulsa Athletics Director Bubba Cunningham. "These games have attracted a lot of fan interest for both sports in the past. I believe it's good for both Universities to compete on a regular basis as we do in many sports. Large state school's playing a local private university is good for the state and city as well."

The football series will be played in three consecutive seasons beginning in 2010. Tulsa will travel to Stillwater on Sept. 18, 2010 and Sept. 29, 2012. The Hurricane will host Oklahoma State at Skelly Stadium on Sept. 17, 2011.

"I'm excited about the Tulsa-Oklahoma State football series that will start in 2010," said Steve Kragthorpe, Tulsa head football coach. "We want to play a top quality schedule at TU and to play a team from the Big 12 that has a great history and tradition like Oklahoma State is ideal for us. Our fans and Cowboy fans will get to see three great games and will also have the ease of travel.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Oklahoma State football and the job that Mike Gundy is doing there, and know that these will be three very challenging games," added Kragthorpe.

In basketball, the two teams will play four games between the 2007-08 and 2010-11 seasons. Two games will be played in Stillwater and two games in Tulsa, including one at the proposed new downtown BOK Center. It has not yet been determined what school will host the first game of the series.

"Obviously, Oklahoma State has an enormous amount of tradition in its basketball program starting with Henry Iba and continuing with Coach Sutton, and now Sean. OSU continually is one of the top programs in the Big 12 Conference," said TU Head Basketball Coach Doug Wojcik. "There has been some outstanding games between Tulsa and Oklahoma State in the past, and we hope to resume a great history between the two schools on the basketball court."

The two teams have met 70 times previously on the football field and 103 times on the basketball court. The first meeting on the football field came in the 1914 season.

The first time the two schools met in basketball came in 1907-08, as the two teams played twice when Tulsa was still Kendall College and Oklahoma State was Oklahoma A&M.
