Tulsa Student-Athletes Named to Academic All-District Teams

Stamford, Connecticut - Three University of Tulsa student-athletes were named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large First- and Second-Teams this year, as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Golfer Sam Korbe (Springdale, Ark.) earned first-team accolades for the second straight season, while sophomore tennis athlete Arnau Brugues (Barcelona, Spain) and junior golfer Mitch Cohlmia (Jenks, Okla.) earned second-team honors.
Korbe possesses a 3.79 grade point average in biochemistry/pre-med, while Brugues has a 3.58 GPA in exercise sports science and Cohlmia maintains a 3.67 grade point average in finance.
A junior, Korbe was a first-team all-conference selection and had a team-leading 72.4 stroke average in 39 rounds of golf this year. He had five top-20 finishes this season, as well as seven top-25 performances. He also had his first career win with a playoff victory at the Gator Invitational.
Brugues is the seventh-ranked player in the nation. He has a 17-2 singles record and has posted a 9-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents. He was named the Conference USA Player of the Year while leading his team to the C-USA Championship and into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
A second-team all-Conference USA selection, Cohlmia posted eight top-25 performances in 13 tournaments this season.
Since earning first-team all-district honors, Korbe is now eligible for ESPN The Magazine All-America honors. The Academic All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
