Cross Country Squads Head to Southern Stampede

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Joplin, Mo., on September 16 to compete in their second meet of the 2006 season, the Southern Stampede.
The Southern Stampede is hosted by Missouri Southern State and will be held at Fred G. Hughes Stadium with the women running first at 9 a.m. and the men following at 9:45 a.m.
Tulsa is coming off a pair of season opening second-place finishes at the Hurricane Festival held at Mohawk Park in Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane men were led by Brett Turowski who turned in a second-place time of 20:26, which was three seconds off the winning pace, as TU posted three of the top five finishers and four in the top-10 in the four-mile race.
The Tulsa women's squad was led by Lana Kelley who posted a fifth-place finish and a time of 11:59 in the two-mile race, leading a total of five runners in the top-10.
