Tulsa Post Game Quotes vs. UAB
Tulsa Head Coach Doug Wojcik
Opening statement... "That's a disappointing loss, especially after fighting back the way we did. I thought we got momentum, but I give UAB credit for being resilient and hanging in with what they were trying to do and coming out with a pretty darn good win for them on the road.
"I don't think we played with a lot of energy tonight at all. I thought we missed a lot of it. A little excuse for Rod, he didn't go to shoot-around or pre-game meal because he had a fever. But for the rest of the guys, we just didn't have it. We were a step slow, not alert. They made their threes and it gave them confidence. And yet we kept fighting, give us credit. We got lucky at the end of the half, but we'll take that luck with Brett's shot that gave us a little momentum. And then they come out in the second half and don't score for seven minutes and we take a 34-31 lead with post feeds, scoring inside and running a little bit. To be quite honest with you after that there was a delay there with the clock and it really hurt us. The play we had been defending and talking about, a critical defensive error and they drill a three. Is the game lost in one possession, no. But we had them on their heels and they hit a three to tie the game and from that point on they gained the momentum and we lost the momentum."
