Houston, Texas - The University of Tulsa was able to string a few more hits together in its series finale with the Houston Cougars, but UH got another timely home run to win the third game of the series, 3-1 at Cougar Field. The loss drops TU to 16-14 on the year, 2-3 in Conference USA play. Houston improves to 23-10 and remains undefeated in league play at 6-0.
Senior Angela Osbon led the Hurricane hitters with a 2-for-3 performance and scored TU's only run with her third home run of the season. Fellow senior Kelli McGlasson also posted two hits, with a pair of singles. Sophomore Stephanie Chomicki recorded TU's fifth hit of the afternoon.
Sophomore Katie Lee was saddled with the loss in a complete game effort. She kept the Cougars scoreless through the first five innings, successfully pitching herself out of jams in the first and fourth innings. Four consecutive base runners reached in the fourth, however none were allowed to score. After a lead off walk in the bottom of the sixth, Lee looked to be getting out of another inning by recorded two quick outs. But another walk set up the game winning home run to left centerfield.
Tulsa returns to the friendly confines of the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex on Wednesday for a single game against Drake. The Hurricane will also host Oklahoma State on Thursday for another single game. Both contests are scheduled for seven o'clock.
