Tulsa's Cross Country Teams Both Finish in Top-5

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's cross country teams show its strength en route to a top-5 performance at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. The men's team finished just behind #5 Arkansas, who finished fourth, #8 Oklahoma State, who finished first, and Abilene Christian, the defending Division II National Champion, who finished second. All of Tulsa's runners finished in the top-35.

The TU men's team finished fourth out of 17 teams with a combined team score of 87. The men were led by junior Edwin Henshaw finished fourth in a time of 24:10 in the 8K race. Other participants for the men were: junior John Beattie in 16th (24:42), sophomore Lewis Timmins in 17th (24:43), sophomore Kyle Dekker in 19th (24:49), senior Brett Turowski in 31st (25:41), sophomore Eric Harris in 32nd (25:48) and senior Joel Stansloski in 33rd (25:50). The men ran a minute faster then it did last year at this event.

The women's team finished second to Missouri State. Its top finisher was sophomore Lana Kelley in tenth (18:28) in the 5K race. Other finishers for the women were: freshman Ashlea Gulfillan in 13th (18:31), Marissa Saunders in 16th (18:37), Laura Englehutt in 17th (18:45), sophomore Dawn Nagazina in 19th (18:52), freshman Ashley Aitkin in 26th (19:13) and sophomore Tayler Rigsby in 29th (19:18).

Tulsa will next compete at Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Ind. on October 13.
